PSP: Sites You Need to Know (Very Basic)

I know the PSP isn't the hottest topic out there, it's usually the iPhone or iPod Touch or a Mac, but this is different. I got a PSP about 2 years ago, and I loved it! But I didn't have Wi-Fi in the house until recently. So I haven't really had the full experiance of the PSP. It actually is a great device! I'm loving using it's browser. Sure it's not as good as the iPod Touch's Safari browser, it's descent. Some people don't like typing with it, but you get used to it. But the browser has restrictions. You can fix some of it with getting a Memory Stick Pro Duo so you can display full websites, but still you need flash.

The solutions are... 1. Get a custom firmware like 3.70, or, 2. You can use the mobile sites for most email sites or Twitter or sites like that. Some people don't know how to check their email or social networking sites. You can just type in "m" before the actual website title like this, m.gmail.com. Very easy. But for some sites it doesn't work. I have the solution for Gmail. Because you can't just go to the site, because if you just log in it will say "Bad Request". Go to m.google.com then a basic phone like page comes on. Click on Gmail, and it will probably say "Sorry, the Gmail application does not work on your PlayStation Portable" but on the top you will see "Visit Now". Click on the link and you should only see the username and password sign in, nothing else. Just type in your info and your good. Make sure you bookmark the sign in. But make sure you sign out when your done or it will say "Bad Request" when you try to log on. But I don't know how to do hotmail, so far it doesn't work for me. But for Yahoo you can just go to the website and it will automatically go to a mobile version.

For Twitter it is very simple. You CAN see the regular version of your Twitter but it sort of looks wierd. But there are no limitations. But you can go to the mobile version... http://www.m.twitter.com. It is very basic and simple, but it is a lot faster than the web version (for me at least). You may prefer the web version but I do use the mobile version more. Very easy.

This is my favorite site which I didn't mention in the beginning, and that is Instant Messenger. Little people know of how to get Instant Messenger on your PSP. That is easy. On your PSP go to ebuddy.com. You have accesibility to MSN, GTalk, Yahoo, AIM, MySpace, ICQ, and Facebook, all instant messengers! If you use any other messengers than that, I don't know what to say, I don't even know what the heck ICQ is! Sorry for not knowing. But I suggest you set up an eBuddy account so you can access all of your networks. All you have to do is press sign up. It works really well, but it doesn't make any notification sound when you get a message. But it still is all the messengers! I love the site. You can also access it from your computer, but I don't see why you would.

So those are just a few tips for you and a great Instant Messaging site. I hope if any of you have questions that they were answered. If you have further questions just email me at thetechman15@gmail.com or go to the contact page for more links.

The Confiker Virus: How to Stop It

One of the
most difficult and harmful viruses out there is the Confiker Virus, it
will eat your soul! No, I’m just kidding. But it is dangerous and
difficult to get rid of. What is the Confiker worm? We have evidence
that the creators of it can connect to an infected computer and install
software and maybe even steal personal information. It might be able to
be given to criminals to steal IDs. It will also probably direct the
infected users to online scams and phishing sites.

The Confiker worm will spread across mainly networks if it finds a
target (not the store) it will turn off the automatic backup service,
it will delete all the past restore points, disable many security
services, and block access to a number of security web sites and opens
infected computers to get additional programs from the creator. Then it
will spread itself to other computers in the same network as an
infected computer. It will find a vulnerable spot, or a problem with
the Windows OS. Once it’s on a computer it tries to spread itself
through external drives, USB ports, and memory sticks.

If you don’t know if you have it or not just try to go to a major
Anti-Spyware, Anti-Virus program site. If you CAN see it, your okay, if
you CAN’T, you do have it, and hopefully you already have an Anti-Virus
program to get rid of it.

Make sure you already have an Anti-Virus software, and get regular
updates from Microsoft. If you don’t have pretty recent updates, then
you might be at risk.

If you do have it and you can’t get rid of it, than just call any
tech support. They should be able to help you, but act fast or more
people may get infected. Also check all your external drives and make
sure they aren’t infected, but if your computer is infected your
external drives probably will be too, so be careful! Just use caution.
Hopefully this worm will be destroyed.

P.S. This is a Windows only worm. Mac users are completely safe.

TweetDeck Update

I have been tweeting for about a year now, and I started with just tweeting on the web, then I decided to get a client a few months ago. I was looking at YouTube for reviews and suggestions but I couldn't really find much. So I was looking through the Firefox add-ons and I saw the add-on TwitterFox. I thought it looked good and decent for my needs, so I downloaded it. I liked it and used it for about a month but I needed some more features. So I saw a video about Twhirl, I was pretty excited! More features and you didn't have to go into the internet. So I used it for about four months, but I saw the Creative One was trying out TweetDeck. So I decided to try it out, but I didn't think I would like, I was wrong. I fell in love with it! It was the best one I had ever tried. It showed you your @replies and direct messages, and it was compatible with Twit-Pic and other features. So I stuck with it. I haven't had any problems with it so far, and I will probably stay with it for all my tweeting, unless I find something else amazing. But it just got better!

Today an update was released. Not many things changed but something was added! You can now do your Facebook status from TweetDeck, and the logo background is now yellow instead of black. Also, I'm not sure if this was available before, but you can load a Twit-Pic photo strait from TweetDeck. Just a quick look for you guys! I highly suggest TweetDeck!

Economy Effecting iTunes Prices?

Well today was a sad day for me (I know, drama king!), I just found out that iTunes song prices went up! At first I heard they changed so I thought, Yes! Lower prices! but no, now it went up. The price for a song to download on iTunes is now $1.29! But I'm not going to completely freak over it, some other songs that aren't as popular will stay at 99c. Which makes sense, why charge more for songs people won't even download? So you oldies fans are okay, it will actually be cheaper. As announced in MacWorld, there are now three prices on iTunes for songs, 69c for the oldies, $1.29 for the "hot-new-hits", and 99c for other things. 99c was so comforting! Ha ha.

Is the price change because of the economy? But why would Apple, a great solid business have to raise prices on song downloads? They get plenty money! At least it was only raised 30c. So there are some bright sides...

1. The older songs are now cheaper, so now you don't have to pay as much for some 70's song as you would a David Cook song.

2. They still have the price of 99c for songs that are still moderately new, but not at the top of the charts.

So now your iTunes gift-card will be going out of wack! $10 won't buy you 10 songs anymore! You might have purchases of all different prices.

Now it leaves a question... what will the economy effect next? Will the prices of a MacBook go up even higher? That is a pretty scary thought! Will the price of a simple iPod Shuffle go up? I don't think so because really the cause of the whole thing was the music industry, but why would Apple do that? You would think with the economy the prices should go down.

With the new prices, I think there won't be as many music downloads on iTunes, so then they would start losing money leading to even higher prices, or lower. Hopefully the music industry will let iTunes go back to the normal price.

One of the worst things about this is now Amazon and Walmart Music Downloads have followed in the foot steps of Apple.

Maybe there will be a discount for buying the full album of a new popular CD? I'm not sure, but that would be a good way to get more customers. Is the price change for better or worse?

Comments on iPod Classic 120gb

Many people say that the new iPod Classic 7 gen isn't worth upgrading to from the previous generation, I'm one of them.

But
let me say first off it's a great iPod. The reason for those comments
is Apple didn't really do much with it. Sure it's now 120gb for the
same price as the previous 80gb, but thats its biggest change. I didn't
upgrade from the previous generation, I upgraded from a 2gb Nano.

The
new shade of black is a nice color, I really like it actually. The
laging of the previous generation in cover flow has improved a great
deal. Another cool change is Genius capabilities. For those of you who
don't know what Genius is, it's a new feature to iTunes that lets you
"rediscover your music" in the words of Steve Jobs. Basically what it
does is, you turn Genius on and it finds songs that are like the song
you are listening to.

Other than those things, not much of an
improvement. But if your upgrading from a nano or any other player, I
highly recomend it.

BlackBerry Pearl 8220

I know for a fact people have been wanting a BlackBerry. But does
everyone want that big phone?? A lot of people don’t. But there is an
answer, and that is the new Blackberry Pearl 8220.

With the new Blackberry you can have all the same great features but
in a much slimmer, smaller phone. The Blackberry website says
“BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphones offer everything you’re looking for
from a mobile phone, without sacrificing the full BlackBerry smartphone
experience.” I can agree with that. But I still think it was a great
choice to make this phone. The “SureType Technology” is supposed to
help you type and text with ease. It also has a spell check feature.
But a very nice thing about the internet surfing is that you can
connect to a wi-fi hotspot, thus saving money! It also has YouTube
capabilities.

Overall I think this is a great phone. If you’re in the Blackberry Market, I highly suggest this Smartphone.

The Tech Man

Well with a new YouTube channel comes a website! Right now I'm on spring break so I can make videos and do some blog posts! It's the perfect opportunity! I love anything technology from Apple, to Microsoft! I will probably be showing and reviewing more Microsoft products though because I'm sort of a poor boy! I have made this site with the Yola sitebuilder, formerly SynthaSite. It is very easy to use. But I do want to make a real website with a real domain. Hopefully I can get some money so that might happen in the future. I plan on doing a blog post every week, but with summer I might not be able to. But I hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for more content!
