PSP: Sites You Need to Know (Very Basic)
April 22, 2009
I know the PSP isn't the hottest topic out there, it's usually the iPhone or iPod Touch or a Mac, but this is different. I got a PSP about 2 years ago, and I loved it! But I didn't have Wi-Fi in the house until recently. So I haven't really had the full experiance of the PSP. It actually is a great device! I'm loving using it's browser. Sure it's not as good as the iPod Touch's Safari browser, it's descent. Some people don't like typing with it, but you get used to it. But the browser has restrictions. You can fix some of it with getting a Memory Stick Pro Duo so you can display full websites, but still you need flash.
The solutions are... 1. Get a custom firmware like 3.70, or, 2. You can use the mobile sites for most email sites or Twitter or sites like that. Some people don't know how to check their email or social networking sites. You can just type in "m" before the actual website title like this, m.gmail.com. Very easy. But for some sites it doesn't work. I have the solution for Gmail. Because you can't just go to the site, because if you just log in it will say "Bad Request". Go to m.google.com then a basic phone like page comes on. Click on Gmail, and it will probably say "Sorry, the Gmail application does not work on your PlayStation Portable" but on the top you will see "Visit Now". Click on the link and you should only see the username and password sign in, nothing else. Just type in your info and your good. Make sure you bookmark the sign in. But make sure you sign out when your done or it will say "Bad Request" when you try to log on. But I don't know how to do hotmail, so far it doesn't work for me. But for Yahoo you can just go to the website and it will automatically go to a mobile version.
For Twitter it is very simple. You CAN see the regular version of your Twitter but it sort of looks wierd. But there are no limitations. But you can go to the mobile version... http://www.m.twitter.com. It is very basic and simple, but it is a lot faster than the web version (for me at least). You may prefer the web version but I do use the mobile version more. Very easy.
This is my favorite site which I didn't mention in the beginning, and that is Instant Messenger. Little people know of how to get Instant Messenger on your PSP. That is easy. On your PSP go to ebuddy.com. You have accesibility to MSN, GTalk, Yahoo, AIM, MySpace, ICQ, and Facebook, all instant messengers! If you use any other messengers than that, I don't know what to say, I don't even know what the heck ICQ is! Sorry for not knowing. But I suggest you set up an eBuddy account so you can access all of your networks. All you have to do is press sign up. It works really well, but it doesn't make any notification sound when you get a message. But it still is all the messengers! I love the site. You can also access it from your computer, but I don't see why you would.
So those are just a few tips for you and a great Instant Messaging site. I hope if any of you have questions that they were answered. If you have further questions just email me at thetechman15@gmail.com or go to the contact page for more links.
